KINDNESS PACKS DELIVERED BY KIDS FOR
PEACE

of 4th Grader Who Received $2,500 Award from Scholastic
On June 2, Skyler
Pinto, a 4th grader at Deer Canyon Elementary, paid a
visit to the Ronald McDonald House with about 30 friends. These young
ambassadors of goodness, all members of Kids
for Peace, gathered earlier that day to make Kindness Packs
to take to children at the House. Skyler came up with this
project idea last summer, inspired by his participation in The
Great Kindness Challenge.

STEER DONATION FROM VIEJAS
Viejas
Chef Arnold - A Quarterly Dinner Provider at the Ronald McDonald
House
For the second year
in a row, Viejas Band of Kumeyaay Indians has
donated a steer, acquired at auction. The Viejas donation was made
possible through the Junior Livestock Auction held at the Eastern San
Diego County Junior Fair earlier this year.
Viejas was the highest bidder of $2,075 for a 988-pound steer.

TWO WEEKS TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE FOR OTHERS
Ho! Ho! Ho! Grab your candy canes and sunscreen and
mark your calendar for our first Christmas
in July celebration, organized by the Rancho
Bernardo Kiwanis Club.
This 2-week long event happens at the Ronald McDonald House from
Sunday, July 18 to Saturday, July 31. The House will be dressed for
the occasion with lots of holiday trees dripping with ornaments and
ways to help the families at the House.

President's Message - Jul10
WHAT A DIFFERENCE A YEAR MAKES
Dear Friends of RMHC-SD,
On July 7, we marked our 1st year in our new House. What a
difference a year has made! On that 1st day, we were full
of hopes and dreams about serving more families than ever, and so
grateful to have more room to accomplish our mission. Now, 365 days
later, we have graduated to full capacity, our facility is brimming
with activity from the computer lab to the outdoor courtyards, and we
are on pace to serve nearly 20,000 families in this coming year.
