Ride for a Cause Poker Run & Barbecue – Sunday, August 9, 2009


If you are a motorcycle enthusiast, come join our sponsors, Sweetwater Harley Davidson and Sweetwater HOG, for a 100-mile charity cycle ride. ALL PROCEEDS WILL SUPPORT THE OPERATION OF THE NEW 47-BEDROOM RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE.
You will make stops en route to pick up the cards for your poker hand that will be scored at the end of your ride. High hand will win A Night on the Town package, valued at $500, and Low hand will take home a $100 Entertainment Package. Everyone will have a chance to win lots of exciting raffle prizes as well.
This event begins with registration from 8 to 10 a.m. at Sweetwater Harley Davidson in National City, then concludes with a great summertime Barbeque at the new 63,000 square foot Ronald McDonald House in Kearny Mesa across from Rady Children’s Hospital. RONALD MCDONALD will also be on hand and tours of the new House will be available. Prizes will be awarded at noon or when the last rider arrives. You must be present to win.
Registration is $15 per person for early registration. After July 31, the price will increase to $20. Additional poker hands can be purchased for $10. Dated event pins will be given to first 200 registrants!

Table for Tots - August 20th, 2009

The concept for "Tables for Tots" was created by OFS Brands as a way to partner with the design community and raise money for local charities nationwide. OFS Brands has teamed with G/M Business Interiors who chose the Ronald McDonald House in San Diego as their official charity. Local architectural and design firms, as well as industry professionals, can register to receive a child-sized set of table and chairs to creatively design and decorate. These designs will be exhibited and put up for auction at this year’s first annual “Tables for Tots” event on Thursday, August 20 from 6:00 to 9:00 at the “New” Ronald McDonald House. The top six designs will be awarded trophies. These awards will go to the winners of the following design categories:
"Go Green"
Best Thematic Design
Best Interactive Design
Best Educational Design
Best Character Design
Grand Prize: Chosen from all categories

The 19th Annual Golf Tournament - September 22nd, 2009


Everyone raved so much about last year's tournament at The Crosby we have decided to return! We sold out early last year so if you are interested in playing on one of San Diego's finest courses and joining us for the amazing food and drinks please contact us.

Red Shoe Ball - April 25th, 2009


Our 4th Annual Red Shoe Ball was a smashing success thanks to the many special attendees, sponors, chefs, wineries, and donors that were a part of it! This was truly a special evening for the Charity and those who came to see the unveiling of our new Ronald McDonald House! Over 300 supporters and guests came for an evening of wine and food tasting accompanied by live music, auctions and more.

Those who were able to come were some of the first to step into the new 47 bedroom 65,000 sq ft. Ronald McDonald House! Guests were treated to the delicious servings of Viejas' Chef Arnold, Il Fornaio, Alfonso's of La Jolla, Karl Strauss, French Gourmet, and Macaroni Grill. These fine foods were paired with some amazing wines from Benziger, Meridian, and Prime Vine, as well as a couple of local brewmaster Karl Strauss' beers.

There were red shoes everywhere; from construction boots spray painted red to beautiful high heels! See the photos here

2008 Casino Night


For the second straight year, the Ronald McDonald House Casino Night was a smashing success at the San Diego Hall of Champions! Special guests Tony Hawk, Miss San Diego, and the Chargers Girls, and over 150 people enjoyed an evening of gaming, 80s music, great costumes, and most importantly, raising money for the Charity. Strategic partners VAVi and Stay Classy invited new and young professionals to event, and the Charity hopes that their introduction leads to new energy, volunteerism, and philanthropy for the Charity. The event also had close to twenty volunteers that continue to make the difference in making every event seamless and meaningful for the patrons.

The planning committee of Kelly Gann (Chair), Kelly McGirk, Matt Kruse, Christina Doyle, and Chantal Pasag were instrumental in making the event sensational. They engaged new sponsors, such as Cook and Schmid, Spectrum Renovations, and DrJays. The Charity also benefited from the generous sponsorships of Union Bank of California, The Bama Companies, Sycuan Casino, Barona, and MillerCoors. We couldn't have raised the money and the profile of the Charity without their financial support.

2008 Gala - "The Journey Home"


Jazz music filled the air as over 250 guests and honorees gathered at the Westin Horton Plaza to enjoy the 2008 Ronald McDonald House Charities Gala "The Journey Home." Guests enjoyed fine food, specialty beverages, and an evening atop one of the finest hotels in San Diego. In short, The Journey Home Gala was a smashing success - Netting $81,200! The Westin was more than a wonderful host! They were a generous partner and sponsor of the event and underwrote the food, beverages, and other expenses. North Island Credit Union continued their generous support, serving as our Title Sponsor and generously donated $25,000! Without the support of the Westin Horton Plaza and North Island Credit Union, The Journey Home would not have been possible.

The Gala is more than a fun-filled evening. It is an opportunity for the charity to show our appreciation to those who supported us in a special way during the previous year. We were pleased to show our appreciation to the people who help us achieve our mission of providing a "home-away-from-home" for ill children and their families while the child receives critical medical care at San Diego area hospitals. Without their support, and yours, the Ronald McDonald House could not provide these services. Our honorees included:
