About Ronald McDonald House of San Diego

The Ronald McDonald House of San Diego is a "home away from home" for families with seriously ill children being treated at San Diego area hospitals.
Since 1980, The Ronald McDonald House of San Diego has provided more than 140,000 nights of lodging to 14,000 families in need!  We were the 19th House to open in a Global family that now includes nearly 300 Ronald McDonald Houses in 30 countries!

Due to overwhelming need, a new House (see photos)  opened in July 2009, with 47 bedrooms (compared with the previous 12) and a Family Care Center to help make life easier for families dealing with a sick child. 

The Ronald McDonald House serves as a day resource for any family with a child in the hospital, providing necessities to make their lives easier as they go through the most difficult times of their lives.  We provide the following services 365 days a year:

• Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, and Snacks
• Laundry Facilities
• Web MD Computer Resource Lab
• Two TV/Quiet Rooms
• Children's Play Room
• Showers
• School Room
• Chapel
• Exercise Room
• Day Resting Room
• 22,000 square feet of outdoor play space and separate healing gardens
• Living Room
• Beauty Salon
• Friendly Staff Members and Other Families in Similar Situations

 By helping meet the needs of care-giving families of sick children, Ronald McDonald House supports the healing process for both the family and the child.  We need the support of the community to help Ronald McDonald House grow into our new House.  There are many ways to get involved: Donate, Volunteer, or spread the word.
